Attraction
Design

Falcon’s credentialed attraction design experts help deliver a holistic, world-class guest experience that takes all the creative, technical, and practical elements into consideration.

It all starts with research. We want to fully understand the venue where the attraction will reside, as well as what innovative technologies can be used to help deliver the experience. The story should always drive technology, not the other way around. This motto is especially important for projects featuring intellectual property, so that brand identity and promise is never diluted.

The strength of our core competencies shines through in all phases – from pre-concept and concept design to schematic design, design development, and the BIM process. It even extends to ride and show design, scenic and prop design, character development, themed graphic design, and costume design.

Pre-concept Design

The very first step in attraction design is the pre-concept design phase. It’s exciting to imagine what the guest experience will be like during this phase, but first, we have to answer a wide range of questions. How does this attraction fit within the wider world of the theme park, water park, or other type of experience? How much space will it need? What is the target audience? If this is a branded or IP driven experience, how can we maximize that? What technologies or attraction systems would be suitable? As we discover these answers, we’ll generate a brief written narrative, a THRC breakdown, and a ROM of the cost. We’ll show you a plan view of where it resides within the larger world, what the guest flow will look like, and where the queue line, pre-show, and main show will live. General concepts for the attraction come next, which will include design filters and style references for the environment, vehicles, characters, and potential scenes.

Concept Design

The concept design (CD) or concept development phase of an individual attraction design is similar to what happens during CD of the master planning phase. We’ll establish the creative vision for the attraction, then we develop every facet of the guest experience: the story, characters, guest role, and the visual style, while also explaining the attraction system’s core components and functions.

Schematic Design

The most important aspect of schematic design services (SD) is defining the technical details of the attraction. This step is where plans for the attraction are sharpened, and special attention is given to the integration of the ride system, media, and special effects (where applicable).

Design Development

During the attraction’s design development phase (DD), sometimes called detail design, we define and refine every piece of the attraction. The deliverables include thorough plans, elevations, sections, and detail drawings of all guest-facing elements, which are then packaged up for specialty contractors.

BIM Management

BIM, or Building Information Modeling, involves generating and managing the physical and functional information of our attraction plans, which helps our designers centralize all the data related to that plan. Our BIM designers are deeply involved in all phases of a project’s lifespan, which improves coordination and communication among internal and external team members. Using info we gain through the creation of a BIM model, we’re equipped to evaluate your project’s needs. Our team helps mitigate risk, increase productivity, and reduce costs.
