The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) Awards Committee and TEA International Board of Directors have named the National Geographic Museum’s Becoming Jane: The Evolution of Dr. Jane Goodall exhibition as the recipient of the 27th Annual Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement in Museum Exhibit Design, Limited Budget.

Projection mapping, to me, is a truly fascinating subject. I became quite entranced with the tech while working on our Heroes and Legends project for Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex back in 2016. Our media team was integrating both projection mapping and a hologram/Pepper’s Ghost effect on the actual Gemini 9A space capsule.

An interactive, multimedia experience at the Hard Rock Vault in Orlando gave fans an extraordinary opportunity to immerse themselves in rock ‘n roll’s compelling history. Anyone who has visited a Hard Rock Café knows they are more than just a restaurant. In many ways, they are a multi-city, international shrine to rock ‘n roll. An impressive collection of instruments, gold records, costumes, photos, and more line their walls, not to mention the classic cars hanging above the main dining area or jutting out of the building.

Council members help guide the UCF curriculum as well as the types of software programs these students should learn. We’d like graduates to know specific programs like SketchUp, AutoCAD, Revit, Unity, Rhino, Maya and other animation applications, the Adobe Creative Suite, and audio and video systems. If people can communicate using these tools, with freshly printed diplomas in hand, they’ll be ahead of the curve.

Some of the best theme park attractions are driven by great storytelling. Since dialog is such an integral part of telling that story, what happens when the audience can only hear half of what is being said? It’s just not going to be an effective attraction. In many of these special venue environments, there are so many variables to deal with, but most often, the problem is acoustics.
