Falcon’s Digital Media teams up with Hollywood composer, Penka Kouneva, in support of the 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11.
Client: Penka Kouneva
Services: Media Production
Location: Hollywood Bowl, California, USA
Respected movie and game composer, Penka Kouneva, approached Falcon’s Digital Media with an exciting opportunity to help mark the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing. She asked us to create an emotional, historically-driven three-minute film featuring American women astronauts.
Our work would accompany her custom music, as it was played live, during a celebratory concert at the Hollywood Bowl. The concert put on by the LA Philharmonic, featured ten different performances, all of which were inspired by America’s exploration of space.
Penka’s wonderful piece of music gave us a great foundation to build this mini-story, a capsule in time, of sorts. Falcon’s film showcased 50 women astronauts who have flown on the shuttle, conducted spacewalks, worked on the ISS, piloted and commanded missions, and achieved historical firsts.
We selected awe-inspiring space imagery to create a beautiful canvas behind clips of these trailblazing women. A few chosen sound bites helped launch the film, setting the stage for what was to come. Motion graphics, effects, and titles rounded out the custom piece.
Falcon’s was honored to have been a part of this special occasion in Los Angeles, as thousands of people gathered under the starry night sky, brilliantly illuminated by a full moon, to celebrate our nation’s achievements in space.
